Hi! My name is GloriousPurpose!
So I've been learning more about POTS and I've been thinking maybe I should look into going to the doctor about it. (Also how do I go about doing that?)
I've been having dizzy spells since I was a little kid, I lose my eyesight, my whole body gets really heavy, I'm really dizzy and swaying, I get a pounding headache, and sometimes I collapse. I've never fainted though, and there not always that bad.
I also bruise really easily, am super pale, get nose bleeds incredibly easy and for long periods of time, sometimes my feet swell too, I'm always cold and I have hand tremors (though I don't know if those are a symptom of POTS).
But we think I'm anemic and I know I'm super dehydrated so it might just be that.
People with POTS and other types of Dysautonomia, what do you think?
Hello, so I wanted to come here to ask if my symptoms describe POTS, so yeah, these started about 4-5 months ago and it has only gotten worse since then. I get lightheaded when i stand up all the time and sometimes my vision goes weird, i decided to check my heart rate (with a at home pulse oximeter) and it goes up by 30-40 BPM when i stand up and about 20 BPM when i change positions, also exercising is harder (than before the symptoms started to get worse) because i get lightheaded so easily now, i do also get lightheaded when i stand for prolonged periods of time, and other times i do feel heart flutters. and on bad days, i just continuously get that feeling of having to faint, also when i pop my neck sometimes i get dizzy. anyways, what are you guys thoughts?
I would try tracking your heart rate with a wrist watch, mine spikes by 30+ BPM when I stand up. Also I'd talk to your general practitioner about it, and they can either test you for it or send you to a cardiologist or someone who is qualified to test for that (and rule out any other heart issues).
I'm not you, and im not sure what you personally want to do, just letting you know tjose were my first signs of POTS (as someone who IS diagnosed)
i feel dizzy and my vision goes when i stand up too quickly (pretty much every time). is this a POTS symptom? thx
Hi there! I'm also a person with Dysautonomia. I haven't figured out what kind but it could be either POTS or IST which is inappropriate sinus tachycardia which is super similar to POTS. About going to a doctor, I suggest you go to a cardiologist about that. Even though POTS and Dysautonomia deals with the autonomic nervous system, I think you might want to see a cardiologist because typically the diagnosis process is testing through a tilt table test to see your heart rate which is something a cardiologist can do. Also ask your family or relatives if they experience the same symptoms cause usually POTS may run in the family. As for your dizzy spells, you absolutely do not need to faint to have POTS. In fact it's only a small percent of people with POTS who actually faint but the rest experience presyncope which is the symptoms you have before fainting while not actually fainting. As for the other symptoms like bruising and getting nose bleeds easily, I'm pretty sure they're unrelated to POTS but I'm not too sure. It could be something comorbid causing those symptoms but I'm not here to diagnose you so you can look into comorbidities yourself if you feel like there's a condition causing that. Though I feel like having trouble regulating temperature is a symptom of POTS from what I have heard and being dehydrated can cause POTS symptoms to get worse.
