Does psychosis make you neurodivergent? I have synesthesia and I'm a HSP, so I know I'm neurodivergent, but I'm wondering if psychosis counts too? Also um, how do I stop hearing voices? I can't tell what's real anymore. I don't want to go back to the hospital.

Hey, my name is Luci. I am diagnosed with Schizophrenia, along with a whole slew of other things. Mine is fairly balanced, I experience a roughly equal mix of paranoia, hallucinations, and delusions etc, sometimes one is worse than the other. Before I was diagnosed I had been hearing a lot of voices and seeing shadows and stuff, got worse really quickly. I didn't tell anyone because I thought it might be my synesthesia acting up but I wasn't sure. It kept getting worse to the point I couldn't tell reality from not anymore. Eventually I was hospitalised for an attempt, my parents took me to the psychiatrist, and he was like..."yeah so that's not good." So I think trying to talk to trusted people about it, knowing you're not alone. Medication has helped me a lot, too, so maybe pursuing a diagnosis of anxiety or a schizophrenia spectrum disorder is a good step towards becoming medicated.
I have schizophrenia and take medicine to stop hearing voices. the best advice I would give is get set up with a diagnosis so that you can claim the rights you have for hearing voices and be treated. it is best to get help early so you do not spend as many years as I did not trusting that medicine helps. Now I am making videos and posting on instagram daily and my medicine helps me not hear voices. every individual is different for which meds work best for them which is why you need to get checked out so you get a diagnosis. I live off ssi cause I got diagnosed with schizophrenia before I turned 23 and still lived with my parents, it is harder to get help the longer you wait to get help.
I sometimes experience hearing voices too and seeing things that aren't there. It comes and goes for me but I learned that it was from bad anxiety, and it is alot better after I got on anxiety meds. Thought it might be helpful for anyone to look more into if they also experience these types of things.
I experience the same thing and I would like to know if it's normal to see flashing lights or shadows and not sure if voices you hear are just intrusive thoughts?
