I have adhd and my friends therapist and I think I am also autistic. Autism also is in my family as some of my siblings have it. I have a lot of the symptoms and have been doing my own research as well as taking tests recognized as being formed with the dsm 5 and everything points to me being autistic. My therapist keeps saying I should talk to my parents but I have talked to them about stuff like this before and they haven't done anything to follow up with it. Does anyone have any advice of what steps I should take next,

Hey everyone! My advice (I am now on the waitlist for testing for autism) is to have a trusted adult talk to your guardian with you. Also do a lot of research and come up with a list of symptoms that you have. Adults like data! My parents were really against the idea of me being autistic (my dad still is) but my counsellor was kind of the go-between, and helped me advocate for myself. Hope that helps! Best wishes to everyone❤️
I totally understand, my parents won't hear that I have Audhd so I can't get a formal diagnosis before I'm 18!
I have also had family members say I seem autistic or comment of my face telling me to "fix it" or to respond even if I don't know what to say. I don't know how my brother was diagnosed but he was when Asperger's was still a diagnosis and my sister was diagnosed by her occupational therapist
I'm having a similar issue.
My sister is autistic, and I have anxiety but my counselor and I think I am also autistic, as I fit basically all of the criteria, but my mum won't hear of it. When I try to talk to her, she just shouts at me! Any tips??
Hi i understand the feeling, all my friends, some teachers think I have ADHD, even my mum thinks me and my dad have it but the problem is they don't care! I really want to get tested but my parents say it's a waste.and I don't wanna look strange asking them! If anyone has any tips pls tell. :)
