Hey! My name's Luci. I've been considering the possibility of getting a mobility aid and was wondering if anyone has advice on if I should/which one? Also how would I bring that up to a doctor? I have several mental conditions and several chronic physical ailments, working on a diagnosis now for the physical, but we think it's rheumatoid arthritis because it runs in the family. Anyway I have extreme pain and aching my knees, feet, ankles, elbows, and fingers... The knee problems are the worst and all these problems have been around for years now. Anyway I was thinking of getting a cane or forearm crutches because I can't walk around for long and I'm unsteady because of the pain (I can't do armpit crutches because ive had those in the past and it was painful/cut off circulation). Ive also considered a wheelchair instead for the days it's bad (but not like every day) because my school is MASSIVE and really hard to get around, but I feel like I'm not that disabled and people would think I'm faking it, idk. Also any ideas to help with joint pain or RA would be lovely!
EDIT: I have hEDS! :)
Hello Luci. I recently started to use mobility aids. I do have a cane, crutches and a wheelchair and it is a new life! I would really recomend start using mobility aids based on what you write. I also struggled with thoughts of "am I really disabled enough?" "would people think that I am faking?" etc. My love, if you think that it would make your everyday better and make you have less pain I think you should get it 🧡 We don´t use mobility aids, because we think it is "that fun", we use it either becuase we are in need of it, ore because it helps us in some way. In your case it sounds like it would help you, and that are more than enough 🧡 Good luck in your journey to get the aids you need. I support you and would love to discuss this futher. Warm hug from Eline
